I meant to write this review a while ago. I was scratched by my cat in September 2018. I went to urgent care around me, got a tetanus shot and was prescribed Amox. And Clinda. She was supposed to have given me prednisone because it was an allergic reaction. A few days later, my hand was swollen and up my arm, my arm and hand was raw. So I went to the er near me. They wanted to cut my hand off and gave me a diagnosis of cellulitis. The circulation was cut off from my fingers due to inflammation and a stint was put on. I was in the hospital for a week. A person from disease prevention came in. Let's just say, I had a horrible experience and the my bill came to 35k with no prognosis. I went to Yale, they made it worst, and then I went to New Britain General, they couldn't help. I decided to reach out to a dermatologist and after calling a few, my husband and I settled on Dr. Gart. It took him one minute to tell me what it was. I was put on a strong dose of prednisone, and after the third day my hand and arm was doing better. I found out that I was allergic to clinda, amox, and antibiotic creams. I tested the antibiotic cream a year later and it was so. Dr. G. Might have an old scool office, filing and payment system but he's skilled in his profession. My total bill between all three hospitals came to 45k and all I needed was prednisone. Thank you, Dr. G. For helping me. I'm in debt now but it's due to other unskilled professionals.

I realized I had misplaced my appointment information. Thinking nothing of it, I called the office to get the time. I was told that wouldn't be possible because it was "too difficult" and "would take too much time". Every other doctors office I have dealt with in my life wouldn't have any issues with something simple like this. Additional to that, I was quite annoyed that I could possibly lose my place in line as the wait was months out for a much needed appointment. Bewildered, I asked why it was so difficult. "I would have to look through all our books to find that information." Wow. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. No wonder computers are replacing archaic practices like this. Sure the practice of not using a computer to hold information is dated, but I can get past that if you have friendly and hard working staff members on the other end of the phone to help me out. If you can't keep track of appointments, how am I supposed to believe you will cautiously handle my social security number or personal information? I was actually referred to this practice by a family member and I will be sure to get them to go to another practice asap. I have read several other reviews online about this specific secretary at your office and it blows my mind that she hasn't been told to change her etiquette. I called the practice back several days later to see if there might be someone else that could help and the message machine told me to call back during normal business hours. I was calling one hour before close. I would never trust these people with my health or information.

I can't believe that in 2017 that Dr. Gart's office doesn't have the equipping to accept credit cards or HSA account cards. Check or cash only! Surprised they have computers if that is the case. Dr. Gart was really good and I would have given him 4 stars for treatment but took 2 stars out because their payment system is from the 80's
