Poor value for money. Impressive stately home from the outside, with lovely grounds and views, but inside has none of the charm or period features.. Paid 200 for a 2 night weekend break without breakfast.. Given an attic room with wasps, asked to be moved, offered a lower basement room that was dark even on a sunny day. Then a very professional manager offered us a tour of the few rooms available. Accepted a large one - very spaceous but the window didn't open & no A/C. Had a drink on the pretty terrace. Wine was 8 a glass (beer a reasonable 3.60), so decided to eat out! (There is a nice pub in the village) On checkout had to ask for several spurious charges to be removed. Person checking out next to us was calling for the manager. Good location - 10 mins from centre of Gloucester. They were advertising some good deals (2 night break with breakfast & 1 dinner) not available when we booked, but make sure you get a front facing room. There were weddings on both Friday & Saturday, so maybe need to book well in advance on these days to get a nice room.
