Much needed info i finally got “after” the safari, most of it from the mahwat(elephant driver) and my safari coordinator. 1.Elephant Safaris in Kaziranga are contracted to private operators who charge from 1000-1200 indian rupees for Indian nationals. 2. The first elephant safari starts at 0530 and lasts for one hr. There may be 3 shifts if the weather is fine. Elephants are not taken for safari in sunshine(heat) as they get tired easily. 3. If you haven’t been on an elephant ride before or you have a kid..its a fascinating experience. Elephants are just majestic. 4. Coming to animals we saw- the famous Rhino in all its glory from 5-10m away, wild buffaloes, herds of deers, an eagles nest, indian roller bird etc. It was thrilling ! 5. Jeep safaris (I didn’t do it) start after the elephant rides and go deeper on the track, and lasts longer sometimes. All the best and enjoy this amazing opportunity

Fantastic experience! Elephant safaris set out early in the morning at 5 or 6am. The Jeep (Gypsy) safari after is also nice.

Most ideal tyme to visit this place during November to March end. If you are visiting Assam, you should not miss the opportunity to take a elephant ride or a Jeep safari at Kaziranga.

From here you can go on elephant safaris or jeep safaris too but mind that you'll have to book prior day 1 or 2

I visited here on 25.03.2018 with my brother-in-law. Unfortunately, we didn't had time to explore more in the World Heritage site. But, we saw Elephants, Rhino, herd of deer, Elephants grass, misc species of birds. For Jeep safari there are different rates and for Elephant safari you need to stay a day earlier because last time of elephant safari is 7:00 am. There are also hand craft statues of wild animal. Remember, be cautious with Wild life if you are suppose to visit here and you just found my review. Didn't had good camera to shoot distant animals but, below here are some snap shots.

Good elephant safari team with quite a few elephants and also (as of March 2017) lots of babies to join you on the safari. The mahouts know simple English and will stop and assist with photos when needed. Great for viewing rhino, deer, boar as well as birds.
