Rowan County Recycling - Stokes Ferry Road Site

We started to recycle recently. My children really want us to help environment and we started to recycle. I got a big garbage can from Lowes and we would put anything recyclable into it. I would wash every container I put into it. We were diligent about it. Usually I would just leave it by their fence since they are open only 2 days a week at a certain time. One time I showed up when they were open and the lady who tends that place told me to pull things out of the bag, sort it out and place the each item into an appropriate container. (There were a couple of items left that didn't qualify for recycling, so she wanted to charge me for dumping the rest! No, I just brought those items back home). It made me feel like I work there, not her, even she was the one wearing gloves and getting payed. Well, today a sheriff showed up at my door because dropping off garbage at the gates is considered to be a misdemeanor...I was shocked and speechless... I wasn't aware of such a law... (He came to warn me). I am not motivated to recycle any more. It's way too complicated, especially when a worker of the place doesn't want to do her job.
