Please take heed of the advice from locals if you’re not from the Denver area. The fact that houses have been built nearby doesn’t mean that the area is safe. There are so many other trails to enjoy. Why take the risk?

very peaceful, very nice trails. it can be pretty cold if you get out of the car (in the fall/winter) but you can stay in and still enjoy the beauty of the area. it’s also a great spot to take pictures!

Please do not go here! This entire site is full of radioactive activity-specifically plutonium! You are putting yourself in danger. This are used to be a plutonium processing plant. The half-life of plutonium is 24,000 years- meaning much of whatever was buried is stile active.

Recent tests have found \hot spots\ of plutonium here and there in this region, so you, your family, and pets are risking exposure to one in this park (it isn't as if they test every square inch). Because the records from the Grand Jury are sealed, we don't really know everything we ought to know. You can read about it in \Ambushed Jury\, to this day, jurors and FBI agents are really eager to get those unsealed. Perhaps the most salient point is that the clean up is controversial, some are concerned that the plutonium that was buried may very well leak or come to the surface via floods (which we've had), or animals burrowing, like the abundant Prairie Dogs - or by earthquakes caused by fracking (which has also happened). So no matter how \safe\ it might be for the moment, the future almost certainly includes leakage at some point and to some degree. I'm glad the animals have a refuge, I wish it was closed to people.

Great hike just outside of town! Lindsay Ranch is pretty cool and the wildflowers are great.
