I tell many new veterans to link up with local Veterans' support groups in their community. Goldsboro has great groups with the DAV, Veteran Service Office, Veterans of Foreign War, and Order of the Purple Heart. Good to have a place to go to find information. Another helpful advice is to be patient. Many of the volunteers are also disabled and served. May have a long time to wait but remember the information and services they provide is free.

My husband and I were just treated like absolute trash by one Veterans Service Officer Terrel Henderson. My husband who is a disabled Search and Rescue Swimmer in the Navy and had an appointment at 10:30. Apparently all the VSOs were out except 2 so we were finally seen by Mr. Henderson around 1:00. After an incredibly rude and intense arguement with this person (that ended up in a cussing match) we left. This person has absolutely ZERO business working with people, much less helping Vets who are dealing with so much already.

A place where Veterans are welcomed, helped and looked after.

They are helping me with my VA claim and assisted me with getting all my information together and required paperwork. Would recommend any service members needing assist to call them.
