Love this hike during the snow season. Not too steep on the “main” trail plus a few fun side trails that are a blast for kids to tow a sled on. Wild rhododendrons probably bloom in summer there. Some people would brave a walk on the frozen lake...

Great place to spend some amazing leisure time. Great to hang out on a sunny day. Must visit for a family relaxing day out. Great vacation spot... just can sit and enjoy the beauty of Mt Hood from this place. The most important part is the trail you can go round and round and you will never get bored of it. Loved the Kayaking from Mt Hood Outfitters. They are awesome, definitely rent single kayaks and spend some quality time with friends n family. Best top notch place in Oregon. Truly special for friends, couples n family outing. 5/5

It all starts with a beautiful drive up the mountain along highway 26. Then you pass through so many quaint towns on the way to stock up for your outdoorsy needs. Once you get over the top of Mt Hood, it's a 1/4mile downhill, and a large parking lot awaits you on the right. Park, suit up, snowshoes on, and one foot in front of the other. It's an amazing hike in during the winter months with 5-6ft of snow. Backpacking, cross country skiing, hiking, they have it all. We even stopped to feed the birds once we got to the lake. There were only a few people when we started, and on our way back around lunch there were tons of people. I would go here all year round!!
