On 11/21/2011 I was hurt at work when a Supervisor did something with a sledgehammer I advised him not to do. This resulting in a moderate shoulder injury that eventually required fairly significant surgery. From the fist time I met Dr. Charles Metzger, I felt that I was in good hands. His approach to my care and his handling of the Texas Workers Compensation system was centered around what I needed, and not what was best for anyone else. Sure, I sat in the waiting room a little longer than I would have liked a time or two, but it was a reasonable price to pay for a doctor that put me first. Dr. Metzger went beyond my expectation by becoming relentless where getting approval for my imaging and surgery were concerned. It took time, but eventually we won out, and I got to have my surgery. During my pre-surgery consult, he told me that he was going to fix my shoulder, even if that mean repairing something that wasn't on the surgical approval list, and him not getting paid for it. While I am still recovering, my arm works the way it should, and that is all due to the skill, fortitude, and tenacity of Dr. Metzger.
