Many great pieces of both modern and classic art

Very good museum, presents a large collection of paintings dating from the 1500's until contemporary works. Most of the older paintings are from European artists. There are many works from local artists, which is a nice touch. The contemporary sculptures can be skipped without missing much, as most are nonsensical if you don't have a degree in arts. Temporary exhibits are usually small, but tend to be very well planned and are worth the visit. On the first Sunday of each month the museum is free, but if it's the last free Sunday of a temporary exhibit you can expect a long line and waiting times that approach 2 hours.
Fantastic sample of many years of art. We were there on Sunday which was free. We listened to music performed by local artists. Popular bar attached
Free for students A great collection for a small city. Unfortunately the description are in French only. The presentation is great though, giving the artwork space to breathe. Absolute recommendation
Loved the painting, especially of mountains. Look almost like a photo ! Paintings of Grenoble show how the city was before it was what it is, today
Amazing collection and free for anyone under 26!
The caption on all artwork is only in French. It would be much better if they offer an English translation.
Nice museum, mainly art, modern and classical, excellent temporary exhibition of ancient Egypt (11/2018). Everything in French only. Audiobook for permanent section in English.
