Would highly recommend the Gretna wedding Bureau to help organize your wedding. The staff are so polite knowledgeable and friendly. No hard sales. They listened and put together the package that you want. Our wedding like many had to be changed a few days before we were due to get married. The Bureau running in a unknown situation had to re schedule all the cancelled weddings. Still remaining professional. We were able to add things to our package. Would recommend taking out the full photo package at the beginning. It saves time.

We were supposed to get married next July at Auchen Castle, we were looking forward to it. Being back home with family, celebrating our big day. Then the pandemic happened, borders closed and still are. We emailed Auchen and Gretna mostly emailing through Auchen seeing if everything will be ok and kept getting reassured everything will be fine. This isn’t the case we are in Australia and our government are saying earliest the boarders will be open would be around April 2021 and that’s just a maybe. We decided we couldn’t risk getting to the date next year and not being able to fly. There is still no vaccine so even if we could, we would have to quarantine for 2 weeks in the UK and 2 weeks when we got back. We made the difficult decision and decided we can’t have our wedding overseas. We couldn’t even postpone it as we couldn’t give a date. They would not hold our money for long either. We had given them over a years notice on our intention to cancel due to the growing Covid pandemic as it was out of our control on whether it would have gone ahead or not. We thought Auchen castle would understand and do the decent thing. Instead they refuse to give us our deposit back. It wasn’t our fault and even if we had wedding insurance the pandemic probably wouldn’t have been covered. A lot are saying talk to Auchen/Gretna but we have and they don’t want to know. They would rather keep the money and pocket it even though for that day they could fill the spot by someone who lives in the country that wants a wedding there. We tried so many times to communicate with them hoping they would come to their senses and have a heart to give us our deposit back. The deposit was around 2000 that’s something we could use especially in this difficult and struggling time. Instead we won’t ever see it unless Auchen Castle/Gretna have a change of heart.

I cannot say any thing negative at all. From the first inquiry to the receipt of our wedding album it was truly perfect. Everything was just as we requested. Everyone was so helpful. We had the most amazing wedding and our guests thought so to! Mr and Mrs G Davies
