The 5 minimum here is great if you have a smaller load of trash compared to Waste Management's 50 2-ton minimum but, 1- ton here is 39.95 so, it really just all depends on how much trash do you have to get rid of. Also, they do require you wear a safety vest so bring your own or you can purchase one from them for 5.

A group of us from the Upper Arlington Senior Center toured the Franklin County Sanitary Landfill yesterday [8-27-2019]. Solid Waste Authority of Central Ohio [SWACO] had arranged for and had paid for the bus; we had not had to be concerned about the logistics of getting there and back. Our first stop on the tour had been inside of a building [possibly a previous house] on London-Groveport Rd. In a \lecture hall\ room of that building, our tour guide presented a very informative program about solid waste management and about the important roles that recycling and composting play in that process. We then re-boarded the bus and toured the actual landfill for approximately half an hour. Our tour guide explained to us what we had been seeing during this part of the tour. All vehicles that are bringing trash to the landfill are weighed when entering and are weighed when exiting. Each truck is charged based on the difference between the \before\ weight and the \after\ weight. Anyone can bring trash to the landfill; however, those who are not from Franklin county are charged a higher fee to do so. While exiting the landfill, our bus was washed off by an automatic spray mechanism [kind-of like a car wash]; we then headed back home.
