So, this used to be my favorite gyudon place in town until today. 2 months ago they closed for renovation and , I think the management changed so today when I saw it was open again I went to try it. Right from the start I had a bad feeling, what was once a very cozy and nice Gyudon restaurant after the renovation was looking like a very tasteless and empty work in progress place. The music, that before was usually some chill Japanese music, now was some upscale jazzbar/hotel lobby music, totally out of tone with the rustic environment. Menu arrives and to my great surprise, there's no english, classic of when a thai owner buys a place where all dishes are just explained in thai with no attention to the foreign clients. Also the menu changed from presenting the gyudon dishes (the place is called gyudon house) to presenting fine stakes and over 500/700 thb cuts of meat. Leaving their title food just for the last page. So I ordered my gyudon and it was sub par and chewy to say the least, completely tasteless and overpriced as hell 230 onset egg 34b and respect to before they even reduced the size of the portion. My gf ordered a katsu curry and the cutlet was not cooked enough, it was literally raw on one side so much that you couldn t cut it. Cherry on top I ordered the cheesecake and they didn t had it anymore. Only positive was the tea, that was the same of when I last came. Now, normally I d focus only on the food but my experience was so disappointing that I want to point out how disappointing this was, the restaurant has obviously been bought by someone that has no clue of what is doing and ruined a very good restaurant to which I went for years. Right now the place its like a wanna be upscale restaurant that except the music and the price doesn't have anything of upscale. Seriously stir clear of it and go eat your gyudon somewhere else. Gyudon Express is dead now its scam house.

Decent Japanese fare although the prices are a bit expensive. Three of us had a big variety of food which we enjoyed in a fun setting. Convenient location of you're shopping in Index Living Mall.
Fried squid doesnt look like the picture on the menu at all. Gyudon was good but not the best. I loved the fish though! Very clean and nice staffs there. Enjoyed my dinner.
Cozy japanese place with great selection of ramen, curry rice, sashimi, etc on the menu. The food is fresh. Didnt take too long. Service is great. Taste feels healthy. Love love their cheese cake too
Great taste. Soba rice tea.
Chanced upon this area and decided to try it. Service is slow but the food i ordered was immaculate. Had the pork rib udon and it was so good it might be the best in bkk
Not bad. Too small portion of meat for rice comes along.
Small, but nice restaurant, with a fast and politr service. The food is of a good quality, well presented and very tasty. I definitely recommend it for a clean meal
