Ate at the halfway house while staying for a week away at whipcott water. Only a 10 minute drive which was reasonable. The service was welcoming from the start, seated quickly at our table which we pre-booked and they even had the high chair ready. We managed to eat out on the last day of eat out to help out and the restaurant side of the pub didn't feel rushed at all. We weren't hurried to place our orders or rushed to finish and the whole meal was eaten at a leisurely pace. The food was amazing. We ordered starters and mains, and the portion sizes were definitely on the larger side. Perfect if you have a healthy appetite. Everything came out hot and fresh and all our dishes (all different) we're perfect. Even the children's menu had a little something for any child on it and came for what would be a reasonable adult portion. The desserts were equally good, and came in at just over 70 for 3 adult starters, 3 mains, 2 desserts a child's dinner and drinks. All in all excellent value and would highly recommend to anyone staying or visiting near by to eat at. Plus if you fancy it, over the summer they have a lovely pub garden and a skittles alley (not open due to covid) making it a definite go to place for a great evening out for all the family.

I went in recently (31-10-20) for a quick pint. I had a pint of Dartmoor, Jail Ale which was ok but a bit of a drain on my pocket at 4 a pint, when I'm used to paying 3 for the same beer at the Pony & Trap, just 3 miles down the road.
