I have dear friends that live at chartwell onRymal rd and I have to say the food is discusting. Before covid I had many lunches with them. For over 7000.00 a month the food is just institutional food. Many complaints have been made by residents yet nothing changes. Shame on chartwell they have no trouble taking the rent money. The residents also do not have wifi in their room they have to go to the lobby. I certainly would never recommend any one to live there. There has been an investigation to a chartwell home in the GTA let’s hope they look at them. They are shameful

Parry Lawrence is the General Manager of Deerview Crossing and he sets the tone for the staff with his positive and cheerful outlook! He always has a smile on his face for the residents/visitors. My Mom has been a resident of Deerview for several years and she is very happy with the activities, especially the exercise classes and musical entertainment. These past few months during the COVID-19 pandemic have been very challenging, however Parry always had the time to explain the new procedures and infection control protocols to me, returned my emails and voice mail messages promptly. Thank you Parry and all the staff for your care and genuine concern for my Mom!

At the amazing age of 97 Mom decided it was time to give up her driver's license. This meant she would no longer be able to shop for her groceries, visit her friends and live independently. We looked at many options in the area but once she toured Deerview Crossing it was an easy decision, that was the place for her! She was one of original residents and thoroughly enjoyed the last 5 years of her life there. Everyone was so welcoming that she quickly made many new friends and was very busy with the extensive activity program … she even learned to play euchre for the first time! Recently when Mom was hospitalized Parry Lawrence and his exceptional team welcomed her home with a big bouquet of flowers and went to great lengths to accommodate her additional needs. We are forever grateful for care and compassion offered to Mom.

When my son brought me to tour Chartwell Deerview Crossing, my first impression was how beautiful and grand it is. After touring, I decided that it was the right home for me. The rooms are very spacious, with lost of closet space, and have a nice kitchenette. I have lived at Deerview Crossing for a few years now, and it truly feels like home. The staff always goes out of their way to get to know you, and assist whenever possible. The Health and Wellness team are very helpful and treat me well. If I have any questions or concerns they are always there for me. There are also plenty of activities to take part in, and always something to do. The Dining Staff are out of this world. They take the time to get to know your likes/dislikes, and preferences at meal times. I can say enough about how well they treat us.

10 Stars! When we started to look for a place for mom after she had outgrown independent living, we came upon Memory Living at Deerview Crossing in Hamilton. What struck us at the outset is that they were not 'selling' us to fill a room but rather they (were openly) discussing mom's needs, their capabilities to meet those needs, the range of programming designed to engage seniors with dementia and how she would fit in with other residents. In our discussions we all agreed that we had a good fit. Mom thrived at Deerview, participating in arts and crafts and the music that in years prior had faded from her priorities. Sadly, all good things come to an end and mom moved out at the end of 2019. A big thank you to Parry and to Lee-Anne, Vince and Valentina on the first floor. To Helen and the entire group on the second floor - we will be forever grateful for your compassion and the kindness you showed our mother. It is hard to mention everyone without forgetting someone but Yolanda, Roxanna, Noreen, Ion, Angela, Darlene and Terri - your efforts are very much appreciated. You made a difficult situation a little bit easier for our family.

I have had the pleasure of completing my co-op placement at Deerview Crossing Retirement Residence for the past 4 months and I've had a wonderful experience. The staff members are phenomenal, they treat their residents as if they were family, which is why I have and will continue to recommend Chartwell Deerview Crossing to family and friends who are looking for a home for their loved ones. The Lifestyle & Program's manager Heather does an excellent job in providing programs that address the needs of the individuals living in the home. The programs range from all the health domains in improving the residents well being in the physical, intellectual, emotional and social aspects of their lives. Not only does the staff do a great job, the residents who I get to spend time with day-to-day have welcomed new residents in with open arms and it is wonderful to see their community continue to grow.

If you are looking for a retirement home that offers celiacs gluten free meals, this is the place to go. Chef Joan will sit down with you and determine your special dietary needs. My mom, a celiac, has found the meals to be excellent and filling. I must add that having well balanced meals for all the residents is important here. And they offer A La Carte so you will always have something to eat that you like! Also, residents are offered many activities to do during the day. A special event such as New Year's Eve brought in a special performance of 'Elvis Presley' to which many danced or sang along. Family members are encouraged to come and enjoy this time with your family members! It brings us reassurance, contentment and gratification to see that our family members are well taken care of at Deerview Crossing.

Deerview Crossing is an absolutely beautiful home. There are so many activities to choose from on their calendars. Heather Piette does a fabulous job in bringing in a wide range of programs for EVERYONE! Personally, I provide a biweekly Music Memories program on the Memory Care floor. I also do special event music in the beautiful main gathering space. The area is very impressive with a grand piano, fireplace, cafe and comfortable seating for larger groups. The staff are amazing as they get the residents involved by singing, dancing and clapping along! I highly recommend visiting Deerview Crossing!
