John Soares is an amazing trainer! I did a lot of research prior finding John. I also made the mistake of hiring the wrong trainer. Not only I wasted my money but that trainer didn’t achieve anything in terms of correcting my dog. Amadeus is a high energy well intentioned GSD. Training a dog so smart and with such drive was really hard for us. When I finally found John and after reading all his reviews I brought Amadeus to him. He had an initial consultation with me where we talked about my dog’s temperament and behavior. He walked me through the training process and what to expect once the training was over. After on-boarding Amadeus I felt a sense of comfort in that I knew I have left him in really good hands. John will send me video of my dog every week. Through several weeks I was able to observe the significant changes that were already happening. It was also reassuring seeing Amadeus happy and doing well. After the training was over, the other part of the training started and probably the most difficult - training my wife and I. John took his time and throughout several sessions he showed us how to properly communicate with my German Shepherd. The way Amadeus responded to my commands was incredible. Prior that was only possible in my dreams! I am so grateful to John for what he has done. John Soares is without a doubt one of the best trainers in the country. Thank you John!

My husband and I were in way over our heads with our 1 year old white GSD, Ghost. Ghost was reactive on the leash, pulling aggressively, and barking/lunging at people, kids, or especially other dogs. Thank god we found John and the Happy Dogs crew! Ghost attended the board and train program for 4 weeks. Although we missed him terribly, John was amazing about keeping us updated on Ghosts’ progress! John sent us multiple videos of how he was doing and adjusting! When we picked Ghost up after 4 weeks, it was immediately apparent that he had changed for the better! We could not believe our eyes! As we followed through with the post-boarding training sessions, John and the crew worked so well with us to help us fine tune our skills and approach to best benefit Ghost. John is patient, insightful, and an absolute expert in the field of dog training. Our entire experience with Happy Dogs Boarding and Training was 5 stars from beginning to end. I will most certainly be suggesting this program to everyone I know with a dog! Ghost is a pleasure to take on a walk now, he is an obedient, eager to please pup! Thank you so much John and team, we can never thank you enough!

I sent my 1.5 year old Doberman to John for 4 weeks. Before he went to John he was possessive with items in the house, pull on leash, not attentive, jumping and mouthing a lot. When he came back it was a night and day difference he doesn't steal items around the house anymore, walks at my side on leash and is much better in my home. Doesn’t jump up when I come home from work or on visitors. He is now a pleasure to have around. John is also a really good guy too. He sent me videos, answered my questions, and max was excited to see him when we went back for our session a week after he came home. I will definitely keep taking my dog and future dogs to John.

We are first time dog owners with little training knowledge and a puppy that had to be trained. Even though our pup is only 12 lbs and does not have extreme behavior problems, we became overwhelmed with her behavior on lease and needed help. Working with John’s team from beginning to end was a calming, informative, and fun process. This was our first time being away from our puppy so it was very nerve wrecking leaving her behind. However, when we first arrived to drop her off everyone was so calming and friendly all of our fears went away. After 3.5 weeks of board & training, we went to pick her up and she was still her corky self but WOW was she completely different on leash and around other dogs.The 4 follow up sessions were so informative and gave us time to really learn her new training. He answered all our questions and really helped us understand our pup more. It was phenomenal to see the work John and his team were able to accomplish with our 9 month old toy aussie. We confidently recommend John and his team to anyone looking to improve their puppy’s behavior on leash and increase your level of knowledge as a dog owner. We plan to continue her training as she gets older; she genuinely gets excited every time we return and loves to learn. Very thankful for this training and John’s team!
