Fun place to take the kids if you’re spending a few days at the lake. The visitors center is small but has some nice displays and is very educational. The grounds are nice to walk and it’s interesting to see where Booker T. Washington lived and worked as a slave.

As a new American, I enjoy learning about American history both good and bad. There is a lot to learn here, and the facility is very well maintained and informative. The museum and video are very educational and I learnt a lot whilst I was here. It really shows what a great man Booker T. Washington was. As well as the museum, it's a great place to walk, hike and immerse yourself in history. They have farm animals and horses on site and hiking trails if that is your thing. It must be said the people at this monument are very helpful and friendly and happy to answer any questions you have. Highly recommended if you are in the area.

Not a whole lot see here, especially with the Visitor Center being closed due to Covid and there wasnt a Ranger stand set up outside to give out any info/answer any questions about this place. Most NPS places have at least established a booth outside if they have kept their Visitor Center closed this year.

Was in town and happened with to see this was close by. I was able to make a brief stop and it's definitely worth it. Make sure to watch the 12 minute video as it gives you a great overview. There are a couple of buildings to see and a nice and enjoyable 1.5 mile loop trail that you can walk. Even though it's right off a busy road, it is peaceful and quite here.

The preserved site of where Mr. Washington was raised is a museum, and a working farm. Not only is there a museum (with friendly rangers), but a full working farm that you can explore, trails, a creek, and a replica of a tobacco drying house.
