This newly unearthed medieval step well is located adjacent the Old Government College building. The Baoli is approximately 15-20 meters deep and 2 – 2.50 meters wide. It has a simple plan with a stage or floors at each stage, in taper down fashion, with steps leading to the water surface at the lowest level. There is a pillared pavilion on the right of the flight of steps which descends to the water level. The Pavilion is arched and is divided into cells by arches. The passages marked by stylized carved symmetrical arches spanning the columns in North Indian architectural style. These rooms once provided a cool resting place or changing rooms for people. This Baoli is an elegant architectural edifice and remesent of the hydraulic engineering in the medieval Kangra Valley of Himachal Pradesh.
