Recently had my mot done at F1 Edinburgh Way. The team were great. Friendly, professional and really helpful. Alfie in particular was absolutely brilliant. My mot failed on a couple of little bits and when one turned out to be more complicated than it seemed, Alfie persevered and got it sorted for me. I won't go anywhere else in future.

Just before I share my experience, the garage did put everything right as soon as they were made aware, the technicians and staff were apologetic and also felt embarrassed. I’m sharing this just to make others aware of what can happen, and to check yourself! I had a full set of tyres fitted, on time and as expected with no reason to suspect anything was wrong. The car was booked into another garage for major works to be carried out, part of which was a general check over. This garage called me to ask why all four tyres had been fitted the wrong way around (inside/out), to which I couldn’t answer. I called Formula One who offered me a suitable slot to have the problem rectified. This is quite serious, they were asymmetrical tyres meaning the tread pattern isn’t symmetrical and is partly designed to disperse water effectively. They are a premium tyre and we’re fitted to a high performance car - without the tyres working effectively this could have ended much worse, all because I didn’t check myself that the tyres were fitted correctly. Please check - don’t assume the garage will, I suggest Formula One make this a regular process in double-checking fittings, when I had the tyres corrected, no one double-checked other than myself, so clearly this isn’t something that happens normally. I’m just thankful that another garage spotted the mistake before something serious happened.

Daylight Robbery. I was quoted 700 for rear brake repairs on a car that costs 2000, attached below as evidence. Please note if you are unfamiliar with cars that a \brake shoe kit\ charged 60.81 here, is found to be 48 online, doesn't sound bad until you realise it contains the brake shoes AND wheel cylinders and that a single set contains both. So I was being charged for parts already included in the kit, not only once, but twice. Similar areas I rang up told me I was being ripped off and offered prices including the kit and total replacement for 200, 160, 140 and 133.50 depending where I asked. When I told them I was a student with no job, a bald gent with cantonese tattoos on the side of his head tried to immediately push a high pressure sales tactic on me with multiple 170 payments and said it was unsafe to leave. Absolute extortion. Try Matt's Auto Repair Sevice, Stortford Prestige Garage or Station garage instead, they were all honest with me and gave me the quotes found above. I am reporting Formula One Autocentres -Harlow to the appropriate authorities.

Good work and competitive prices as always. I used to use online retailers for my tyres, but these guys do a better deal directly! Don’t bother with anywhere else for tyres now!
