I used to like this store but now I think otherwise - One time, we were in the Waitrose in Harpenden and we were buying lots of items including some cheap olives. We were using the scan as you go system and when we scanned the olives, the device looked like it had worked but we soon found out it hadn't. When we were scanning the device at the checkout, a message popped up on the screen saying we had been chosen randomly for a manual check. We called over a member of staff who started to check our items. When she got to the olives she told us that we hadn't scanned them. We said that we had and she asked us to prove it. We didn't know how to prove it because the machine hadn't scanned the item. She then started to shout and wave her hands around making a big deal about it. We were being stared at by other customers and it was really embarrassing. Eventually, after thoroughly checking all of our other items, she let us go outside were we needed some time to cool off. I was really disappointed about this experience because I thought Waitrose staff were meant to be friendly and kind. I am too embarrassed to go back to this store as the person glares at me when they see me. There are much better stores around than this one. Other things - the olives seemed to be the only cheap thing in the entire store because everything is very expensive, also there is litter around the trolley park quite often and lots of the trolleys are dotted around the town. Personally I think I'll just stick with Sainsbury's!!!

Staff refused to use mask properly. When initially confronted the mask was below his chin. Management did nothing. As senior customer for over 30 years I no longer feel safe with their lax Covid measures.
For the best food shopping experience. Only minor thing is that this store is not the largest & in turn there are a few items that are not stocked
Small/medium waitrose with good food choice and waitrose quality
This is a moderately-sized but tired-looking Waitrose store, with items randomly located and pushed into small areas. It could do with a renovation befitting the pretty town in which it's located.
