Our team strives towards this goal by enhancing local standards in end of life care, seeking to reach more people and improve the lives of as many families as possible affected by cancer or other terminal illnesses. We do this in a variety of different ways; from the more tangible, such as the direct Hospice care and support we offer; to the less visible, such as our work influencing local and regional end of life care strategy. We are also keen to collaborate with other professionals and share our knowledge to ensure quality end of life care is available no matter what illness a person is living with or where they are receiving care. Saint Michael’s is a local charity that serves a population of nearly 160,000 people living across the Harrogate district. Maintaining and developing this care would not be possible without the hard work of our 600 volunteers and staff and the generosity, belief and passion of our loyal and committed supporters. With more than 80 per cent of our income coming from voluntary contributions and fundraising it is true to say that the positive difference Saint Michael’s makes to people’s lives would not be possible without your support. Popular ways for businesses to support this care include making Saint Michael's their charity of the year or joining the Guild of Patrons or Business 500 Club. Individuals, on the other hand, choose to support us by leaving a gift to Saint Michael's in their will, becoming a regular giver or lottery member or taking part in events and challenges.
