A famous author once wrote “the best books in the world are written in the best cafes in the world.” They were right and Caracoli is by far the best cafe in Haslemere. Friendly, super efficient staff serve top quality coffee with a wide range of healthy or indulgent light meals. The Carcoli Classic is a must. It’s also a great place to pick up a few treats for the pantry with a great selection of locally sourced goodies. Not to forget of course that it is also DOG FRIENDLY. I used to come here regularly, but I’ve been a couple of times since lockdown lifted (and their rebrand) and I will not be returning. They have shown a complete disregard for social distancing measures. It’s a small cafe, but they haven’t reduced the number of tables and don’t restrict how many people are allowed in at one time. People are forced to squeeze between tables to get out. Another local cafe on the same road has spread tables out and has a queue to get in. I expect they’re making less money, but it’s the right thing to do!! They’ve also stopped doing hot food (that was their best offering) - not sure if this is because of the rebrand and potential new ownership or COVID, but when we asked about food, we were met with a cold response and no explanation.

Paid 5.10 for a sausage roll (eat in). Food was ok, but over a fiver for a sausage roll is very steep.
