A working beach, so there are hazards, but it is OK to wander amongst the boats. Don't go near the boats during launch or retrieval. We have the largest beach launched fleet in Europe This is a working museum, fishing is sadly in decline, and the fleet is dwindling, so take advantage to view whilst in is still there. Brexit was expected to be the saviour, but it may not be.

'The Stade' is a pebble beach that's home to a working fishing fleet and if you time it right, you can enjoy watching a boat launch or return with the day's catch. You'll know when one's due back... the fishermen's huts are covered with hungry seagulls! Lounge by the shore or take a stroll in the company of a FAB ice cream from The Stade Cafe. Also, you're a mere stone's throw from the Miniature Railway that runs all year round, as well as the Fisherman's Museum and Blue Reef Aquarium. Cafes and bars are all convenient, as are, er... public conveniences. Personally, I love relaxing here on a sunny afternoon sketching the boats...

Great to watch the trawlers coming in and the tractor pulling them onto the beach.

Well worth a visit to this working area where the boats are based on the shingle beach. They are launched and recovered after fishing trips by tractors , or fixed hauser stationary engines. M akes for good photos opportunity, with boats usually attracting seagulls. Up the beach there are severall shed based stores selling fresh and smoked fish. Behind this area are the tall timber sheds used for gear storage and net drying.

Just in case you wondered how the fish boats get in and out of the sea Its by this rusty old tractor or what I call a bulldozer.
