The walk around Heartwell Park is a slice of heaven. It is a privilege and a very safe place to walk around. Probably Nebraska's nicest public city park. God bless

I just moved here from out of state and was impressed by the beauty of Hastings Heartwell Park! It is well maintained and manicured!
Very clean 90% of the time. Grounds are usually well kept and not overgrown. The pond is periodically stocked with fish. Has a small playground and wading pool that's used in summertime. Only negative is sometimes the algae buildup around the pond doesn't look the greatest but this isn't something that's easily controlled.
A quiet little park in the middle of town near Hastings College. Built around a small creek that drains that part of town. Popular with locals for eating lunch or walking dogs. It's quiet and not much traffic. Small playground, small fishing lake, walking paths. Nicely landscaped with some mature trees. It has a population of black squirrels, which is sort of unusual. Only down side is the lake tends to accumulate trash on the edges, which makes area look bad.
Very nice and peaceful here! Nice place to walk also. Pretty fountains and ducks to feed. Also you can fish but I don't fish but my son does.
