As a monument there's not much to see and one can spend about 15 minutes in all, however the pastures around and the lovely walking track along the coast are a wonderful getaway for a walk amidst nature where you can see grazing sheep etc. Around sunset is a good time to go as it offers better photography chances.

Beautiful monument! Worth a visit if you love history, especially viking history.
Monument built on Harald Hårfages grave. I wish I had such view from my own grave once. Recommend to take a short trip to lighthouse.
Haraldshaugen monument is a few steps from an easy parking lot one turn from Haugesund's main road. The area is well maintained, and the monument itself is a must see. An old 1000 year old stone cross nearby is also a interesting sight. But to me this area is the starting point of a short 2km walk on the shore down to a small lighthouse. The path takes you through sheep country, where the smell and breeze of the sea makes for a great ambiance. I did a walk here once, as many of Haugesund's citizens, just to relax and enjoy a nice view and fresh air.
Pretty interesting 19th century monument which celebrates Norway's unification into one kingdom.
The monument has huge national significance but as a monument is a little underwhelming. The great thing about this place is what you can explore from here. Nearby is an ancient medieval cross and the walk out to the nearby lighthouse provides stunning views across the bay. The ladder up the lighthouse is a little corroded and precarious....one for the brave or stupid ..take your pick..All in all great walking using the monument as a base. In good weather this is quite a spot.
Beautiful friendly place.
Nice monument with great view over the sea. Great area for a walk along the coastline. However there is nothing else nearby, so unless you would like to explore the coastline this is only a five-minute stop to watch the monument.
