Absolutely fantastic!! Went there on a whim whilst on holiday, and found it a lovely and welcoming place. Being gluten-free, menus are pretty limited normally, and even worse during covid - you literally end up with options of steak or chicken and sides of potato options/salad/veg, depending on the place. If you're lucky you get some plain fish. (I understand it's difficult at the moment but would it kill to allow us a starter and maybe a dessert that isn't meringue!) The Royal Oak however were incredible and had an entire menu they could do that was... *ALL-GLUTEN-FREE* there were several starters, several desserts, and a while myriad of mains that includes bread! The standard menu as well was drool-worthy. Both of us had gorgeous feasts in a plate (and the portions are more than generous). Honestly, if ever you are on or near Hayling Island the Royal Oak is a must. The staff were so friendly and the manager was more than happy to talk about how they ensure meals are made without risk to those with intolerances. Plus, if you like dogs or have a dog, this is a pooch friendly place! Thank you all at the Royal Oak for a fantastic dining experience!

One of my favourite coastal pubs, so glad they've reopened at last. Excellent measures in place to keep customers safe. We arrived on a very stormy day last week and had to sit in the garden as all tables full. Despite the wind and rain we had a very enjoyable experience. Particular thanks to Becky, the lovely young woman who served us. Great care was taken with the food allergy care, a tablet with full guidelines being brought to us at our breezy table outside. Well done team, good to be back. I'll get the fireside spot next time. Take care .

Booked here for an early evening Sunday dinner. In some ways, quite a typical Greene King pub. Not the most inspiring interior and in need of decoration in places. However food was better than expected. Roast was a good portion and tasty. Took a little while to take our order but otherwise serice was good. Prices were reasonable and staff were friendly. In these COVID days, staff seemed to be doing a good job regularly cleaning the tables. The pub has a sizable garden with lots of tables. Nowhere nearby to park and can be tricky parking in this area. Great location though.

The food took ages to arrive but it was good pub fayre. Only one chef on and she was training so hopefully it will improve. Fab location but parking is a challenge; don't be tempted to park outside the pub; the tide comes up really quickly!

Fabulous idyllic location right on the water's edge but Greene King are missing a trick because it always disappoints. Service is poor and now they insist on plastic glasses outside only. On this occassion they didn't even haven pint pots. Ruins what could be a great experience.

Nice pub, no loud music, no games, no tv, just great atmosphere and views over the bay. The sea comes up almost to the front door at high tide. Friendly staff, good menu with good sized portions served quickly. Frequented by local dog walkers with their dogs. You can walk round the coast path from here.
