The Chequers has had an amazing refurbishment. It is literally stunning to see what has been done. It re-opened at the end of April '16. It now has a fantastic new bar, a great feel about the place. 6 real ales, good wine list and some of the the best steak and triple cooked chips I have ever eaten. Well worth a visit

I came here a few days ago with my wife and was really impressed with the service. We both ordered fillet steaks and they were cooked to perfection. I don't think I have had a steak as good as that this side of the Atlantic. Everything else was spot on as well and beautifully presented.

Wonderful, friendly staff. The smell of smoke from the fireplace and great food welcome the visitor. By far, the best meals we had during our week long vacation to the UK from the US. Hope to return again some day.

We booked in advance during the week for large family gathering today asked for 6 roast beef dinners and 4 children's meals. Food was very basic vegetables were cold and sparse, the gravy was brought out when everyone had almost finished the Yorkshire puddings were very hard. The food was brought out at all different times so some of us had finished by the time they started. Service was poor and in the end over charged by 69 won't be returning this has change hands as the last time we dined here the service and food was amazing.

Under new management in Easter 2017, Chequers Inn was in a bit of a state when we visited as part of random countryside walk, new landlord was very apologetic and welcoming. We had a pint in the back garden which had a great view and like the rest of the pub has great potential. Looking forward to going back a little later in 2017 hopefully for food!

Have eaten here quite a few times, would recommend, the staff Are lovely and food of very high standard. One of the better places in Sussex to have food would rate them 4/5 for food, service 5/5 EDIT 26/02/2013 Management has changed hands so do not know if as good as originally written
