Darren has been teaching my 14-year-old son piano for about a year now. My son started from scratch and I'm delighted at the stuff he's playing already - I love to hear him practise. Darren has been so helpful in discussing things to do with school and the pressures there relating to exams. My son is learning to play piano just for the enjoyment of it, and Darren is really great at allowing my son to go at his own pace, showing great patience and encouragement. My son enjoys his lessons every week and even, occasionally, practises without me reminding him :) He's moving at his own pace towards acquiring a skill which I hope will give him comfort, escape and enrich his whole life. Darren seems to be the perfect teacher for that. I'm very glad we found him.

I've been having piano lessons about 5 months now, although I had always wanted to learn the piano, I began pretty much from scratch and in adult life. I tried to teach myself but it began to feel overwhelming and impossible until I found Darren who has given me the hope and motivation back. He is a brilliant teacher and so patient, I feel incredibly lucky to have Darren as a teacher. Darren has written a book which you can use as a supporting material throughout lessons and at home, this maps out the learning stages and enables you to clearly see how far you have come. Darren tailors the lessons to you, and somehow times introducing new concepts perfectly so that you can digest everything and, most importantly, enjoy learning and playing!

Darren is an excellent teacher, kind and patient with an infectious enthusiasm. His teaching and encouragement has allowed my daughter (aged 8) to progress from absolute beginner to reading music and playing 2 handed in just a few months. I would absolutely recommend him.

My little girl was at another piano teachers for four years and it was a robotic way of learning and it was all about passing exams to the point were my daughter just wanted to give up Darren as put the fun back into playing piano and as transformed the way my daughter thinks about piano playing you dont need to be a concert standard player the most important thing is to enjoy, that way you get the best out of a wonderful thing to learn My thanks goes to Darren for his understanding and helping a little girl smile again much appreciated Tom

Darren is an exceptionally good teacher, combining both the patience and enthusiasm need to teach. He is understanding of situation (such as learning through exams) and knowledgeable about the history and inner workings of techniques, pieces and the composer. I spent many lessons happily discussing different parts of a piece, while been slowly guided through it. Despite only been under his tuition for less then a year, Darren has set me on the way to expanding my ability and carry on learning while at university. I cannot recommend him enough and thank him for the lessons.
