Unfortunately none of the kitchen staff are wearing masks, in the midst of the corona crisis - unacceptable! Waiters do wear them, but obviously not enough. when asked about it, the headwaiter makes a face and aggressively replies about them not being legally obliged to wear a mask in the kitchen, which is of course untrue for Austria as it is for any other European country at this point in time. Too bad really, as otherwise this Kneipe is ideally placed for hikes having thegorgeous Heiligenkreuz as destination. Congratulations to the headwaiter for very efficiently earning a 1 star review for his place of employment. He will no doubt become employee of the year for it.

This restaurant by the Heiligenkreuz monastery is very nice indeed. It's big so no worries about getting seats, but I think it's crowded usually. It's raining when I was there so there weren't so many people. The gasthof was still quite full. The food was great, portion is quite big. I ordered wild boar escalope and it was really good. Meat was tender, it was served with a big pile of steamed veggie and these little fried mash potato. Yummmz! Price was reasonable.

Big restaurant near a famous church. This is also a pilgrimage place for catholics, so there is usually a crowd around. Food is good but there are a few dishes in the menu. There is a nice garden and all is clean.

This restaurant is quite popular and therefore crowded. But it is not impossible to find a table. The sitting area outdoors is fantastic, since you can see the Closter and surroundings, and even though a parking lot is right there, it is still more or less quiet place and has an atmosphere of a historical backyard. A service is somehow messy, but the food is very good and very balanced in seasoning and salt, which is, to my view, quite rare for restaurants with traditional austrian cuisine. Very good coffee.
