Nov 2019. The site was quiet and well maintained with well laid out level pitches. The toilet/shower block was spotlessly clean and heated (greatly appreciated as the day/night were very cold). The camp-ground is adjacent to a small lake that gives the place its name. The vast majority of the space of taken up by permanent caravans. There is only a small area for touring vehicles. The staff were friendly and the price at 20 (with ACSI Card) was excellent. There is a restaurant onsite that is open even in November, a rarity in camp-grounds as most close their restaurants at the end of the Summer break. The place is ideally located just of the A5 Autobahn and there are three service stations and three supermarket nearby. It is good for short stop over, ideally out of season as the site would be very crowded during the holidays.

Stayed for one night, busy campsite with a lot of fixed places. Normal places are small and electricity is weird.. toilets are clean

Nice and clean camping just off autobahn. We only stayed one night but most guest there seemed to be there for the whole season. Close to both a small lake and a public pool. They only accepted card payment for 50 or more.

Good basic camping, clean area. It was a nice walk around the lake.

We stayed here for five nights in our caravan, as we were dancing at a festival in nearby Heppenheim. This is a very overcrowded site. There are some pitches for touring caravans and motor homes, but the vast majority of pitches are for long term residents, who seem to regard the whole site as their private property. The facilities look to be very good, with a high standard of hygiene in the toilet and shower block and water and electric hook-ups for each pitch. There is also a reasonable restaurant, although the service was very slow when we ate there. However, our main criticism is, quite frankly, the unfriendliness of the staff and long term residents. I don't recall them ever smiling at us or striking up a conversation - on the contrary they seemed intent on reprimanding us for our many transgressions of the endless rules and regulations. Using our recycled shower water to wash the car was simply beyond the pale, and we were told (in German of course) in no uncertain terms that it was 'not allowed', but with no explanation as to why. Taking my dog on a short walk at midnight 'around the block' I was followed back to the caravan by a woman who proceeded to berate me in German as it was 'not allowed'. When I said I didn't understand, she simply said it all again in German. I think we were the only English people staying there, and although I did my best to speak German, there was no attempt on their part to even try speaking English when it was clear we hadn't understood. Our fellow touring caravanners, on the other hand, were very friendly and made a real effort to talk to us in English. All in all, we just felt unwelcome, and were glad to leave. I wouldn't recommend this site at all.
