Excellent course, well designed and interesting layout. Appears to be well maintained, given the damage a lot of courses suffered during 2018 droughts. The second green looks as though it may have been relaid, as it's surface was a little different to every other green on the course, including the practice putting green. The grass was cut at a different length. It was also softer and slower than the other greens. The competition we were playing in was a four man team event. The course was set up very fair for the differing abilities that attend these events. The courses only real defense is its greens...and those greens are superb. Huge breaks in several with very subtle ones in others. Just a joy to putt on! Heaven knows what they'd be like at full competition speed...we were told they were running at 10 on the stimp meter, they weren't (thank goodness), as they would have been 'interesting' at that sort of speed. The clubhouse has plans posted in the main lounge for a proposed new building that looks like it will be gorgeous. Hessle Golf Club, your ground and house staff, THANK YOU! We all enjoyed ourselves...great job, if only others would follow your example. We'll be back for other events, and bring more golfers to enjoy your hospitality
