Fantastic, quirky pub, which is much bigger than it looks from the outside and leads all the way back to the river. I was well looked-after and served chips past the closing time of the kitchen, which were proper and hand-cut. Guinness wasn't poured correctly (in one go) but the landlady friendly and accommodating. Could happily spend the day here.

Friday was pie night and what a pie! Wonderful ham hock with water crust pastry individual pie the best I've tasted! Followed by apple tart and home made ice cream. All washed down with Bolt Catcher beer. The chef and his wife were great hosted. I highly recommend the General Havelock Inn. It's worth going out of your way.
