Great shortish walk (roughly 6 mile) around the Bull Crag Peninsula. Well kept paths, no major climbs and a variety of views along the route. Could do with more route signage as where you come back across the 'neck' of the peninsula you have to rely on your sense of direction as phone signal/GPS is patchy at best. Can also travel the whole Lakeside Way (26ish miles) but need a whole day if on foot.

Kielder is one of the best national parks in the UK. It has amazing scenery and a large lake that was created artificially. I has an amazing amount of wildlife and is a huge forest area. There is an observatory that's very good and it's a great place for star gazing. There is a very low amount of light pollution so the sky is very visible at night so its well worth bringing a telescope.

You can easily spend the day here taking advantage of the views, the trails, the attractions and once you've paid employees parking in one car park the ticket is valid for ALL car parks. Dog friendly too

Beautiful place for a walk. Took the kids and dog, shame about the weather being so lousy. 5 to park for the day, cash only in the machine, but you can pay by card in the shop. Pathways are well maintained, even in the wet they aren't waterlogged. Didn't try the cafe/restaurant as we had the dog, but it looks nice enough. Toilets were well looked after, and plenty of hand gel around the shop/cafe/toilet. A long drive to get here, even if you live in Northumberland, and the roads are slow.
