NMVC provides a community service for the local population. Currently, during lockdown 2, the Friday Food Club can't take place inside the building so volunteers (including me) delivery a meal to some of the vulnerable members of the New Mills community.

This volunteer center really serves new mills very well there's always a friendly welcome who ever you are and whatever your needs they will do their best to help even if it's to do your shopping and deliver it too or just a simple morning of dominoes every one who works there is genuine and sincere with a passion to help

The New Mills Volunteer centre is a welcoming place with dedicated Staff and Volunteer, it has easy access will a level threshold front and rear doors (from car park available by arrangement). The ground floor meeting room holds may meetings and group events providing accessible venue for most groups. There is an accessible friendly toilet on the ground floor, although this does not meet strict BS8300 standards every effort was made to be compliant at the time of installing and is used by many people including people with class 3 wheelchairs with assistance ( no hoist is available and a mobile hoist may not be accommodated in the room) there is a loop system fitted in the room but will need to be tested to make sure it meet the needs of the people how may require it. The kitchen also provides good facilities for refreshments adjacent to the meeting room. The first and second floors are accessed by low rise stairs with hand rails and also by enclosed platform lift to 1st floor board room for small meeting and centre offices, then second floor office of Disability Derbyshire CIL PDVA - Peaks & Dales Volunteering and Advancement Lottery Funded Project, for disabled people. Well worth a visit to see what is going on at the Centre that may be of interest to you or you may find a volunteering opportunity with this great group of local committed people.
