Bring back the old days when the rifle parts used to have karaoke till 12 oclock in the morning and it was proper full of really nice people having a great time could do better or worse but hey it's walkable so why not
This London Road boozer is set back and raised from the road, and partially hidden behind a wall. Inside it's basic but functional and busy with a colourful crowd on a Sunday afternoon visit. A carpeted, rectangular room has a centre-right bar facing the entrance with tables and chairs opposite. TV screens either end of the room showing football match kept the punters entertained although a few were playing darts on a board located in the far left-hand corner of the room and (a quizzer was also spotted). The solitary ale was CW Bombardier, served by a friendly landlady and which was in surprisingly super shape and good value at 1.75 for a half. A generous 5, but it's justified for ticking enough of the 'basic boozer' boxes.
