Edit: Currently google has this labeled as open Friday. This is incorrect as can be seen on their website. The correct hours are Tuesday-Thursday, Saturday-Sunday 11:30am-7:00pm (last order 6:30pm) Been here three times and Hisago continues to be the best oyakodonburi in Kyoto. Surprisingly flavorful egg and chicken that is well worth the wait, which around noon typically averages close to an hour each visit. Very reasonably priced as well at around 1000 and honestly is quite filling, we got the extra large rice bowl for 150 extra and it was a struggle to finish everything even though we were starving after all the walking from Kiyomizudera temple. A must try iconic Kyoto location.

The location is easy to spot and get to. We came right at opening, so there ain’t too many people. Staff is quick and efficient. Food is good, and the taste of egg with rice is awesome. The signature Oyakudon is sufficient for a quick lunch, but you can order a soba to share if there are more of you. If there isn’t a queue, just make sure you announce your arrival, if not someone else may just unknowingly beat the queue (you).

Food was served quickly and the menu comes in many different languages. This place has restrooms but they only take cash, no cards. They are best known for their Oyako Don which seems to be the thing everyone eats when they come in. It's basically an egg and chicken rice bowl and is a great comfort food. I ordered their Nishin soba which is not available during the summer. It is a sweet herring with soba noodles. Both were really great but if you can only try one definately the Oyako Don. There was no line up when I went at around 4:30pm on a Sunday but it was also drizzling outside. Great food and fast service.

Good food! Sake was a bit harsh for my liking though. Overall still a good meal. Price was a tad high.
