This is a charming underrated town with a beautifully proportioned street called Bancroft. Purports to the finest in the county. There are jettied medieval 16th century houses juxtaposed with Georgian and Queen Anne houses. The architectural beauty extends into Sun Street, Bucklesbury and Tilehouse street with a plethora of old buildings and eclectic shops. The Priory is another stunning building. There are numerous antique and gift shops in the alleys adjacent to the church running parallel with the High Street. There is a vibrant market twice a week in the market square located next to the river Hiss. Civic pride extended to the renovation of an early 20th century taxi cabin which sits proudly in the old town square by the old corn exchange which is now a large pub. Well worth a visit
