I was searching for a Barbour coat and wellies when I saw the barbour branding on the shop. I went in to be met with a very rude and abrupt man who asked what I was looking for. I advised him I was there to have a look around, when advised me that the store did not accept people who browse and I should leave immediately. I have never been spoken to so rudely when visiting a shop. I questioned the man who worked there was he joking when he replied no, if you are browsing can you please leave the store. We dont accept browsers. He pointed to a sign that wasnt noticeable at first on the door. This was hard to see as the shop front and store itself was very cluttered. How are you meant to know what you would like to purchase if you cannot browse the goods first. I will never visit this store again, and my family that was with me were shocked also. People wonder why the retail industry is going under. It's people like this who work in retail that ruin the experience for everyone else. If I could rate this store zero stars, I would. For a store that advertises and sells Barbour and premium brands, I'm sure the brands wouldnt like customers being turned away from purchasing their products. If the man who works here doesnt accept people browsing in the store, why is the store open at all? Regardless of the current situation.

Check everything before you buy. Wife purchased a jacket just before closing on Friday. Came home put the jacket on the next morning and I spotted a small tear on the back of the sleeve of the jacket. Went straight back to the store the following morning but it was closed so rang instead to explain the problem and went back later. As soon as my wife spoke to the shop assistant she knew they weren’t going to sort out the problem. Shop owner accused my wife of wanting a smaller size and so damaging the jacket on purpose. My wife Insisted she take the jacket back to investigate and followed up with an email. Completely unpleasant response and refused to accept any responsibility. Wife returned later to get a receipt to prove she has left the coat with them and Nikola was telling her colleagues the my wife just wanted a smaller size. Totally unpleasant service and unpleasant woman. Now speaking to Barbour directly who seem to actually want to sort the issue out. Suggest checking everything twice or buying elsewhere. Sales of Goods Act 1979 completely ignored. UPDATE 19th May 2019 Barbour have replaced the jacket free of charge themselves after we sent the pictures that we believe to be hanger damage. Well done Barbour shame the store behaved as they did.
