Very bad nursing care. They admitted my grandmother to Home Health & Hospice of Kansas with out even telling her that she is on hospice. After she went home from the hospital with home health, they switched her to hospice without telling her or the the family about it. My grandmother has signed on hospice admission papers without knowing that she is signing on for hospice. When I spoke to the nurse, she said they usually tell the home health patient that the patient will keep the same nurse and get a higher level of care, and not mentioning the word hospice, because the word Hospice turns off the patient who might refuse signing on the papers, but when the nurse hide the word hospice and does not disclose , then the patient would sign up for hospice. For me this sounds like deception and lying to patients for financial gain. We moved my grandmother to Hutchinson and she still living fine without hospice. If you are talking about Medicare Guidelines, then the Medicare guidelines says that the patient should be fully aware and fully understanding with what services she is signing up on.
