Good for kids
Nice easy hike to the beach. With so many hikes within the sleeping bear dunes this one is good, but there are better.

Beautiful hiking trail that leads to a remote beach. There are a couple of miles of trails, with a few minor hills, which make it a fairly novice hike overall. Mosquitos can be quite bad in the area due to some of the swampy sections, so bug repellant is strongly advised. There's a lot to see here - it is definitely worth the trek!
The big bowl of sand near the end of the trail is always a favorite of my kids.
The hike through the forest was beautiful and not too challenging. I was quite disappointed, however, to get to very steep the entrance for the overlook ( which is apparently part of the beach?) and find a notice prohibiting dogs. I understand and respect the nesting Plovers. That is not my issue. I wish there had been mention at the trailhead ( on either of the two signs) that the overlook was considered part of the beach, and I could have taken him elsewhere. Leave your dog at home ( or bring a friend to hold him). Use insect repellent ( I use natural stuff, but I’ll go chemical in future!) They bit through long sleeves and long pants. Plan on it taking longer than you thought. Watch for poison ivy!
So many mosquitoes nice trail but we were getting eaten alive so we had to cut it short
