I am an experienced rider, I ride western, 2-4 times weekly, I own my own horses here and in the States. I have combined experience of riding of about 30 years. I used to ride horses that belong to the Lucky Horse Ranch and I don’t think that one of the one-star reviews here is correct. Several ways, first, all the horses here are trained in the way that you can brush them standing behind and although generally it is a correct way not position yourself at that point directly at horses tail. But the owner of the Lucky Horse Ranch put in the extra effort to ensure that people can do that without danger. Another thing is they will surely refuse you to go out if they see problems with the rider controlling the horse. That’s done to ensure the riders‘ safety. I like this ranch I have been a regular customer and it’s a wonderful place. Don’t get discouraged come and check for yourself!

As a regular customer and friend of the Lucky Horse Ranch it frustrates and saddens me to read such negative and -to my mind- unreflected reviews. The team of the ranch is a very warm-hearted, competent, patient, and welcoming group of people who are guided by two ambitions: the well-being of all horses, and a positive and deep learning experience for every rider on the ranch. You can have 6 years of riding experience but does that mean 6 years of dressage? 6 years of trail riding on horses that are programmed to walk the same trail every day? Or simply 6 years of \sitting on a horse\? It could happen to you that on the ranch you start a whole new learning experience. And if you're genuinely interested in riding you will soon notice how fine the horses are on this ranch, how sensitively they react to an exhale or the shift of your weight, and how -indeed- you can ride them without reins. If you show no interest in this way of natural horsemanship then it is the right of the owner to deny you a trail ride and to prevent you from causing a negative or traumatic experience for our horses, because of your constant pulling on the reins. This year, the famous natural horsemanship trainer Sonny Garguilo came already two times to the Lucky Horse Ranch all the way from New York to teach beginners and advanced clinics. Successful people like him wouldn't collaborate with the ranch if he didn't know about the level of competence, about the use of the right methods and about the good and profound philosophy that you find on this ranch.

Got a gift certificate for a trail ride. Hadn't been on a horse in about a year, but grew up riding horse (about 6 years of experience) and as nice as the owner seemed to be, the process was problematic for several reasons. I was super communicative on the phone about not wanting a \lesson\ but wanting to go on a hack instead, and was assured that this was no problem. When I arrived, I had a very friendly talk with the boss. She was very nice and said a hack was again, no problem. I was then passed on to someone else which is when the problems began. The majority of the time I was here was NOT spent on the horse, it was spent explaining things to me that I already knew, and while every stable has a slightly different way of doing things that is important to know, her tone felt very condescending. Additionally, she corrected me on several \horse etiquette\ rules, and some of what she told me could be considered dangerous. Example: she critiqued the way I groomed the horse and told me it was better to stand DIRECTLY behind the horse to brush his tail. One of the first things you learn in proper horse etiquette is to never stand behind a horse. Even if you're familiar with them, they can get spooked and kick. Instead of going on a trail ride, I was told to ride around a tiny arena so my skills could be tested and was critiqued because I used my reins too much and was told I should be able to steer the horse completely without them; Again false. But she then told me I was only allowed to ride around in a tiny circle for the next hour. Perhaps it was a blessing in disguise because the horse was very sweet, but wasn't trained well. He was a little stubborn, slow to respond to cues, and at one point on our way back to the main stables, suddenly ran towards his paddock and refused to listen to verbal or physical cues to stop for a full minute. As a confident rider this has NEVER happened to me. Sadly, I will not be back.

(Siehe Foto)
