This home is very small and mainly caters for dementia sufferers. The staff for the most part seem very caring but they are very restricted in the amount of staff they have on duty at any one time making residents feel they are a burden. There is not enough social stimulation for any of them and they sit for long hours in the chairs around the walls there. The home is very clean and no smells of the elderly and the people are kept very clean with their clothing and personal needs but I do wish there was more interaction with the outside world for them. The garden at the back is none existent and access to it a steep slope and nowhere outside for them to sit. The two lounges are small and the dining area permanently set up that way. There is not a lot of interaction between the staff and the people they are caring for. However, all the staff do speak good English. The home is very hot in winter and very hot in summer as they are restricted in how much they can open windows for safety reasons and there are no fans in the place. I always get the feeling as a visitor that we are not very welcome and in fact often I have been there and are never offered even a drink of tea or coffee and I have never been asked if I would like to stay and sit with my parents while they have dinner. In fact it is frowned upon to even be there at meal times at all. I guess because they think we would see what goes on and maybe not like it or perhaps because it is too inconvenient. The property is old fashioned inside maybe giving the people in there a sense of being at home but clearly it could do with an update in some areas. They have no service where they can take anyone out to the shops. Those people are in there day in and day out without any way to get out unless someone takes them and few turn up to do that.
