I moved my son to Goodrington nearly 2 years ago after becoming disillusioned with the large class sizes and spiralling negative behaviour he had experienced (being a primary school teacher in state schools myself I couldn't see a better option). The initial appeal to us was the small class sizes, allowing for more teacher:pupil interaction and the focus on positive, respectful behaviour. Goodrington has proved it has these qualities and much more! As a parent, I feel welcome in a school that my son feels safe, happy and secure in. It really has a caring family feel, which has led to the children thriving both educationally and emotionally. I cant recommend Goodrington more highly (and I wish my son had more than a year and a half left to enjoy it!)

Ever since I brought my daughter to this pre school I have been very pleased with how quickly she settled in and how she felt so comfortable with all of the staff so quickly. They really go the extra mile to make sure she is happy. She has made many friends whilst here as there is a great sense of community at the school from all the children & the support she receives with her every day learning, social development and dietary needs is amazing. The activities on offer are also great, from music, to putting on shows and from cooking to arts and crafts. I would highly recommend this pre school to anyone who is looking for somewhere that they can be sure their child is in a safe, happy, stimulating & well supported environment.
We left this school after struggling for a year with the small class size. When my son went on to a new school he was assessed and found below age expected on at least one key stage and was put into the lowest set for maths, second lowest for reading and lowest for spelling. We have been assigned a specialist educator. We entered the school with glowing reports and a happy child. We left under a programme with our GP to address some serious emotional instability he has been showing and a very poor educational point on which to 'catch-up'. I can't tell you how disappointed we were. There is some indication from Goodrington that he was suffering emotionally and educationally now looking back, but no formal plan was introduced, not even a formal discussion. We feel so let down. I would warn anyone against entering this school. The small classes are not for everyone. If you do then I recommend starting with a rolling 'notice to leave' so if you do withdraw you can do so quickly.
My Son attends this pre school and it is excellent in every sense. He is at reception level at the age of 4!
I applied for a place at Goodrington School for my elder son over two years ago because he was behind and struggling at state school. I am grateful to the school for accepting him and with their help he has flourished and still receives excellent support. My younger son has gone through the pre-school and is now in the reception class. Both classes have been superb. The close-knit family nature of the school is unparalleled and the teaching and communication at the school is the best I have come across.
My daughter currently attends Goodrington Pre School. She fitted in and settled almost instantly and I feel comfortable leaving her there, knowing she will be cared for, taught well and her emotional needs are met. There is a strong focus on developing the whole child, rather than just on their academic attainment, which is obviously important. Pupils are taught to care for one another, respect each other and their manners are impeccable; something that other schools are unable to have an impact on. The small class sizes mean that the pupils can be given individual attention and they can be given extra help or further work quickly, depending on their ability. The school always organises excellent in- house experiences for the children to enjoy, last year we were visited by a mini beast roadshow where the children had the chance to learn about (and hold!) spiders, stick insects, giant toads and land snails. In Easter the children experienced the joy of seeing chicks hatch. Every year the school organises a carol concert held at a local church which is organised by our music teacher. The children have the opportunity to perform, sing and dance with their parents and family watching. It’s such an amazing spectacle and we are very lucky to be able to organise it. When you see children in year 6 brimming with happiness and confidence and you see them develop into a respectful and responsible young person, you know it’s an excellent school for your child.
My daughter has been attending Goodrington's since nursery and is currently in Year 2. The moto "Achieve Through Love" certainly applies, every child is nurtured and achieves to the best of their ability. The teachers are second to none and the smallness of the school means that all year groups (and teachers) know every pupil by name. I honestly cannot recommend this school highly enough. If you are thinking of Goodringtons as a school for your child you would not be disappointed.
