I moved into Elm Park sometime ago and had a problem with the toilet. The overflow pipe was leaking and in a hurry took the part to THE HOBBY SHOP. Amazingly the owner told me how to fix the fault rather then buy a part i didn't need. 14 years later,02/08/2020, the repair still works. I still use this shop as my first choice. THANK YOU.

Ii first moved to Elm Park some 5 years ago and soon discovered this wonderful shop run by Martin .This man has been the pillar of the high street traders his experience honesty and practical knowledge has been admired by all his loyal customers who are true fans because there is simply no better place to go when you have a hardware problem. Martin was bought up in this family business when Hornchurch Air Station had been a pivot part of London's survival during the Battle of Britain and later through the Blitz and although Martin would have been to young his parents would have lived through it . The Hobby Shop to me represented a time when English people were all united against a common foe and not out to just greedily line their our own pockets Many times I have gone into Hobby Shop with a problem and another trader would have taken the opportunity to extract as much money from me us possible But Martins is no Arkwright of open all hours he would always suggest a cheaper and simpler solution . Thereby scarf cing income he could easily had charged for . It breaks my heart to know this business will be forced to close in August as a result of a rates increase that this small shop can no longer afford to pay if ever there was a case for rate relief for small businesses thiis is it .The Hobby Shop is such an important part to Elm Park Community it is a tragedy that Martin and his family should loose their Business . My only hope is that Martin will take some comfort in this and all the other reviews that sing his praise when he takes a much well deserved retirement and Elm Park will be a sadder place without him and his wonderful shop
A great little local shop that has just what you want from a place like this, knowledgeable staff! There is a lot to be said for speaking to people who have an in depth knowledge of what they sell and when to use it. The big diy chain stores might occasionally be a little cheaper but simply do not have people like this available to chat to. I'm more than happy to pay a fair price for the peace of mind that you are purchasing atheists right thing for the job.
I absolutely Love this shop. It always has the nuts n bolts an bits n pieces I need to fix everything Staff are really helpful and friendly, Been going here for over 20 years. Long may it continue
What a great shop, going in the door is a little bit like going back in time to how I remember hardware (DIY) shops used to be. They sell just about everything and will willingly sell you upwards from 1 screw, such great value if all you want are small numbers of things and not a pack or even a box. They also sell timber and offer a wood cutting service. Highly recommended
Shops like these are becoming very rare to see now. Was coming in here 40 years ago,the same staff are still there. Very helpful, & will always have what you need.If not, they will get it in for you.
Absolutely amazing people, full of knowledge and always happy to help.
Brilliant service. Affordable prices I Will definitely be using more of their services in the future.
