Great place for a weekend out with our kids that love horses. The owners were very friendly, their daughter is giving horse-riding courses and the stables and horses are very well taken care of. The cottages look like new, maybe with curtains they could be a bit more cosy in the evenings. But overall definitely a place to go to when you want to discover the area! many thanks

Excellent option if you want to spend a weekend with family and/or friends. In our case we have booked two of their houses (Renoir and Jazz) and have also been able to enjoy their Multipurpose Room. It is like a bar with all the amenities you can ask for (music, refrigerators, kitchen, glasses, dishes, ...) The house has been renovated with very good taste. On Saturday, children (and adults) could enjoy an introduction about how to practice horse riding. I think it is one of those experiences that they will remember for years. We have been delighted with both the facilities and the hosts. All staff are super friendly and willing to help you at all times. I am sure that sooner rather than later I will repeat the experience.
We had the greatest time at De Maalderie celebrating the wedding of friends. The whole family are really lovely and very helpful people! The flats and the common room & kitchen are fitted with modern high quality interior combined with the cozy charme of the old elements of the areal. everything very uncomplicated and i felt welcomed immedialy after arriving! I definatly want to come back again with friends!
This is a wonderful place to stay. The cottages have everything you need for a great stay, they are well equipped, spotlessly clean with very comfortable beds and nice communal areas. The hosts went out of their way to ensure everything was perfect for us and I would love to stay here again :)
We decided to celebrate our wedding (to be a bit more precise we wanted to have a “Gardenparty-wedding” type of celebration) at Lieve’s and Pieter’s place after having seen the pictures online and also some very friendly email exchange. After looking at several places, in different areas of Europe, we realized this would be the absolute perfect location to do so and we were not disappointed. During our preparation they were already of utmost support, which is of course not a given and maybe we were a bit naïve in assuming a wedding celebration for 50 people (with 24 also staying there over the weekend – 20 in cottages and 4 in a tent/camping van) at a place outside of Germany should not create too much work, and continued to be there for us during the entire event. To be honest, we couldn’t have done it without Lieve and Pieter. They supported in every area (catering, accommodating the decoration, beverages, music infrastructure… you name it)! After arriving and inspecting the cottages we were finally convinced we couldn’t have chosen a better place, everything looked even better than on the pictures. Houthulst itself is maybe not the busiest place in Belgium but getting to e.g. the beach (they of course also have very valuable tips on where to go :)) is quite easy and there are even very nice restaurants in the next town (Diksmuide), so this cannot even be considered as a “minus”. All in all and to sum up if we could give more than five stars, we would! Many thanks again Lieve and Pieter, you made our wedding celebration a success, even better than expected (and expectations on weddings are always very high) and a truly memorable event!
Zeer leuke tijd gehad in een gehuurde cottage. Leuke mensen en de kinderen hebben genoten van de paarden. Een echte aanrader!
Heel goede begeleiding voor beginnelingen.
Een zeer aangenaam verblijf. Proper en verzorgd huisje. De paarden waren een absolute meerwaarde voor de kinderen.
