We enjoyed an impromptu evening here tonight, we were served by Alex (her first time managing front of house for the wine bar too) . Alex is super knowledgeable and friendly Plus the cheese is stunning with a great selection of veggie cheeses too. They also a vegan selection if that's what you're after. Thanks again Alex!
Superb cheese selection! Lots and lots to choose from. Very friendly staff who are very knowledgeable about their products and very happy to help. Try the cheeses before you buy to make sure you like them. Lots of choice of crackers/biscuits for cheese, lots of wines and there is also a fridge section with artisan salami and some other cured meats. The shop is on the main road and there are double yellow lines everywhere so difficult to park. Plenty of paid for parking in side streets and plenty of buses to get you there by public transport. We've been following the shop on social media for a while and really wanted to visit, so glad we did. We'll be going back early December to get our Christmas cheeses. Highly recommended.
Seriously incredible experience. My friend went in wanting advice for beer pairings, and they spent the time with us sorting it all. And the price can not be competed with. Get all your cheese here!
Decided to put on my stepping out shoes on Halloween and go out on a solo date. I walked down the street and stopped at a bar that was completely full. It was mot the kind of vibe I was looking for really. I then stopped into Curds and Whey. I didn’t realize they were a wine bar. The first time I stopped in there was during lick down and I could only buy cheese for take away. I believe I may have been greeted at the front counter by the owner, who is an affable and we’ll-mannered person. He seated me in the lower level of the restaurant, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The atmosphere is grotto-like and feels like I am in a wine bar in France. I was seated and within a couple of minutes I was ordering the Charcoal Cheddar and a glass of champagne. Both were delicious. I had the black cheddar with bread slices and butter. I felt like I had been introduced to an old friend. Creamy, mildly sharp and smooth are the words that come to mind when I think if this cheddar. The champagne was delicious and it was the perfect compliment to the after-dinner experience I desired. To the lovely gentleman who provided me with such a nice experience - this Alaskan now living in England is grateful. Merci beaucoup!
Average shop. Unhelpful rude staff. Don't know his name but the older bloke who worked there had a real attitude problem. He seemed to get irritated by us asking for advice on cheeses. Useless
Recently I have visited Curds & Whey to buy some wine . One of the best places in Hove for Cheese and Wine. The shop is really busy me they have good varieties of cheese and good wines. I personally like the wordings in the frame. Yes it is my favourite quote too “Food is my Happy place” . The interiors are done well with lot of lightings for Christmas and seatings looks very good. Looks like they have seatings in under the ground floor too. They have really very friendly staff . I will visit again once lock down is relaxed for dine in. Good luck guys!
