Focal Designs created the kitchen and a bespoke lounge shelving system for our new build in Brighton. Shaun and the team were fantastic from start to finish: creative, collaborative and meticulous in the detailing, they did what they said they would when they said they would, and the results are spectacular. Thanks, Pilar and Nigel

Sean from the outset was clear on what was achievable for our budget and worked hard with us to get the best design we could. When it came to installation Sean and team were a pleasure to have on site and the finished product - Kitchen and bespoke under stairs storage is of a very high standard. Highly recommend.

Shaun did a fantastic job on our new kitchen, from the initial design to project managing the other trades required - all for a very reasonable price. We got exactly what we wanted from a bespoke kitchen, in that he took our ideas and requirements, then improved on them. Highly recommended!

The team at Focal designs recently completed our new kitchen. I have to say, they where very pleasant, professional & informative throughout. They appear to use only the best tools & materials to get the job done well, & where also conscientious about cleanliness at the end of each working day. Shaun, the owner, was also easy to communicate with & we feel like there was a good mix of input from both sides. Very happy in our spiffy new kitchen!

We had just moved into a period property in Brighton (constructed in 1830's) and wanted some bespoke shelving and a television stand built into two alcoves. The house being the age it is meant there was no straight lines to work with so we couldn't go for an "off the shelf" solution. Our builder recommended Focal Carpentry based in Brighton and Shaun came around to discuss my thoughts and what could be achieved. I wanted shelving in walnut wood (an excellent and under-rated dark brown wood) and together we came up with the shelving we wanted and a built in TV stand in the alcove. We went along to the workshop and viewed examples of the walnut wood and also to discuss our ideas. Shaun kept us up to date with progress particularly as the wood needed to be imported. We were delighted with the results, so much so that we asked Shaun to build a customised small table (to exact measurements) for our living room to match his previous work. Whilst at his workshop, Shaun was working on restoring and oiling an old beam from Brighton pier. At the time we were looking for ideas for a mantle shelf for above our wood burner in the living room. We saw the work Shaun was doing and asked for something similar. The mantle shelf has been installed and it looks excellent. It's great to have a piece of local history in our house as part of the furniture. Overall in terms of professionalism, creativity and value, Shaun and Focal Carpentry were outstanding. I can honestly say when we have friends around, the work he has done is a positive talking point.

Shaun from Focal Carpentry led a partial renovation project form my new home. Key features of this included new wooden flooring throughout the ground level and a dining table/bench set. The flooring is probably the best I've ever seen - with a great choice of material - a dark wood with light highlights and a bevel/wave effect. So it looks the part and feels great under the feet. The fitting and attention to detail where also first class - with the flooring going all the way into recesses and cupboards, and also around the radiator pipes in each room. The dining table is also superb. Shaun recommended using wood from Brighton pier along with industrial style steel legs. The finish and detail look amazing and the set has had many positive comments from visitors. Recommended!
