Excellent service - friendly & attentive. The food had insanely good flavours, big portions & I wish I could have finished it all but was too full after the amazing chicken wing & samosa starters!! Good selection of beers including BrewDog. If we’re ever in the area again we’ll certainly come back!

Myself and my partner went for an early dinner this evening on the ‘eat out to help out’ extension for September, having been there last summer for a very nice meal with friends. The restaurant was fairly empty and there was a leak coming from the ceiling (not above our table or anyothers luckily!) apparently air conditioning related according to the waitress. They had a bucket to collect the drips. We had had a delicious chicken tandoori the last time we went, clearly home made, so tasty with vivid use of spices, and not bright red. I ordered it again tonight and was disappointed to see that it was clearly a shop bought paste ( bright red) that had been used, it tasted exactly the same as if I had make it with a patak paste, quite nice but poor for an Indian restaurant. I ordered peshwari naan, which was OK, although very oily and flat. My partner ordered the Chicken Makhanwala, again, a pleasant enough dish, but not as described on the menu. Chicken Tikka Masala, which they don’t actually do but favourably compare it to, is actually much nicer in most of the local Indian restaurants. We needed to order rice separately too. The staff are really nice and friendly, the space is good, as is the decor, there is no awful music and the food isn’t bad. However..... if I had been paying full price I would have been very disappointed. There seemed to be a lack of management and real customer care, it seemed lacking somewhat, possibly due to the 50% discount.
A warm welcome on entering Zama from a delightful waitress, details taken re Covid, heat temperature taken, cleaning sanitizer gel was offered, social distancing observed. I chose king prawn medium curry, aloo with spinach, onion bargee & peshawar nann, my friend had chicken curry. Both were excellent, the service was very thorough & attentive, relaxing background music. Such a shame another lockdown will affect & many other restaurants.
Emailed restaurant: Really impressed with our visit, dirty glass of wine replaced with smaller glass as don't have more glasses and not changed wine when change glass..so classy. Spider may jump into our food or making my wife jump.. restaurant cleaned perfectly. Restaurant staff/manager wearing mask safely over mouth? Is that safe in Covid-19 times?. Food over priced and come on guys if you want to impress people by taking temperature on door at least have a gun that work even staff agrees it's rubbish and don't work. Restaurant replied manager saying you don't understand people working 17 hrs a day trying to take breath, spider is normal can be anywhere and wine glass dirty it happens. Me: Wow shocked really breathing over the food and people when serving? High price and dirty place and glass? And people working 17 hrs a day?is that even legal? Is it my fault that I come for a dinner out and be answered this way as customer and maybe catching something? Reporting this to law enforcement. Even when I asked for owner prior to this as not happy with manger response Lilly in restaurant they are not connected to this restaurant and can't be contacted only Monika the manager. And after all see pics good cost 60 instead of 15 shocking. Contacted that email when they replied to my review and it's scam no one answer or care or even that website of email doesn't exist.
We ate in the restaurant once and had a take away and I can honestly say this is the best Indian food in Brighton. Absolutely delicious.
