This was an incredible experience. I have been to 60 countries and many of the "Top 50" restaurants in the world and this was an experience that was better than many of those restaurants. I would recommend they add truffle salt to the table, and more fresh wasabi ... Other than that pure delight and joy and perfection.

This one Michelin starred restaurant has been operating for 23 years! Thought not fluent in English, they took extra effort to make sure our questions were answered. The service ranges from 5000 yen to 13500 yen per pax, it operates on a "eat till you're full" model. We stopped at 15 skewers each and was charged 9000 each. Skewers range from lotus roots to salt water eel (anago). The quaint restaurant only seats 9 so be sure to make a booking. Instead of paying to reserve online, we took a risk and waited till we are in Japan and got the hotel staff to help with the booking.
A simply wonderful example of kushiage as a complete, set meal in a cozy environment. At the time of this review, the owner still handles the primary cooking after 21 years. I highly recommend this.
Everything is better deep fried. The head chef is incredibly accommodating and the sommelier (from AWA upstairs) knows her wine. Let the chef know when you’ve had enough. There are 30 different skewers and she will just keep cooking until she hits 30 if you let her. Bookings are set for 2 hours.
We come again after many years later and we still enjoy the food and the cosy environment. The oil-fried dishes are still delicious and amazing.
Based on my customer service experience, I cannot recommend this place. The restaurant is reservation-only and when I approached the staff to ask how to make a reservation, the staff was unfriendly and did not help us out at all. Apparently you can only get a reservation through the hotel you stay at, no reservations can be made via phone or in person.
