Went here during the week for a family meal and the food was very good, everyone really enjoyed their meal so we went again for a Sunday lunch at the end of the same week........ what a difference a few days make. It was probably the worst Sunday lunch I have ever had, you even had to pay extra for mash potatoes and cauliflower cheese..... what’s that about!!! We would go again in the week maybe but never again on Sunday. How can you get something so right on one day then so wrong on another. Possibly a little expensive!!! Staff very nice

Beautiful exterior and interior with a lovely warm atmosphere.Staff are very friendly,and great menu choices.In January there are vegan options coming onto menu and a special day for pies.You can sit outside and if it's chilly they provide blankets to keep you comfortable. Plenty of parking and entrance are wheelchair friendly.Well worth a visit!!!!!

The sovereign is one of our favourite places to eat out, however tonight was very disappointing the starter of salt & pepper squid was overcooked but the batter was undercooked and had no salt & pepper on. Then the main chicken & ham pie had no filling and puff pastry was hard. Sunday roast was supposed to be roast Turkey breast in a lemon & thyme wrapped in pancetta, it was just plonked on the plate and was just Turkey veg was so hard couldn't cut through it and the cheese sauce was like milk with melted cheese on top. We did complain and was taken back to kitchen no apology just taken off bill, part from they still tried to charge for the cauliflower and cheese. Very disappointed

Busy but not crowded. Service was good but food was a little slow arriving. We didn't mention it, but even so they removed the charge for our first round of drinks as compensation. The food was good on the whole, although the roasted cauliflower was way overcooked and the couscous with it was rather flavourless. Everything else was very tasty and nicely presented. The beer is excellent; a well-kept pint! Staff are friendly and attentive. Well worth a visit.
