TERRIBLE SERVICE Following advice from Huntingdon store we waited 16 days before introduction of recommended hardy fish species into brand new 30litre tank. Tetra fish x5 were purchased on 20/12/20 with the water quality tested in store prior to purchase. All fish died after 6days (27/12/20) from Ich parasite. (They appear to have been sprinkled with salt). Received appalling service from Tom when calling the Huntingdon store this morning who maintained throughout discussion that they must be suffering from White Spot despite at no point requesting to see the fish, underlining that our guarantee of 48hrs had expired and that parasites could not have come with their stock. Tom’s concern being only to apportion blame and argue with the customer, referring to sales terms which are not supplied with the goods and making no attempt to encourage sending of photos of infected stock or in store visit. My wife who has kept tropical fish on and off for the last 20years really is at a loss to know what else we could have done? We went with in-store advice We stocked to their recommended species We stocked to their recommended density We stocked into a brand new tank We stocked at optimum water quality We stocked at optimum temperature We prepared the tank 16 days in advance of stocking We made several trips to store to discuss and make selection with store personnel We stocked fish as per guidance on the bag To remove stresses we kept them in a quiet room and monitored water quality. Tom refuses to engage meaningfully. Young son in tears watching all his fish die in front of his eyes this morning.

At 12:30 I came here with my daughter to buy some fish and decorations, we picked out our fish and and asked nicely for some help the guy said the fish where schooling fish meaning there needs to be a group of them with which we already have at home, i asked nicely if he could choose a bigger fish and the (fat guy) who served used lashed out and accused me of lying and got up in my face shouting scaring my poor daughter in the process, he tried snatching the decoration out my hands, which made feel uneasy during COVID I asked him to back off and if I could speak to the owner or manager and he said “manger, owner that’s me” he continued to shout nonsense at me and my daughter and kicked us out the shop my daughter the began crying to me in the car saying how scared she was and how she now hates that fat man. Dobbies is such a nice garden centre it’s a shame it is ruined by this outlet.

On Sunday me and my sister came into your store (Huntingdon) to buy some tropical fish. This is not the first time I have been in your store and if I walk through your door you would probably recognise me. We chose out 8 guppy’s and 2 Siamese alge eaters spending around 40. I get home to find out that 3 guppy’s have a worm called camallanus worm. I had just got rid of the worms from the time before That I brought from your store. The rest of the guppies that didnt have the worm where very skinny and some had damaged finns. all but 3 guppy’s died in the first 2 days and we have managed to treat the remaining three for the worm. I’m a sorry for leaving the bad review but we have tried to call you and email you but you have not replied. I have kept the receipt and I hope you received this.
